Frequently Asked
Questions
Q: Does Angel replace
Infinite Campus?
A: Infinite
Campus is still our Student Information System that safely stores all student
data that is protected by privacy laws, such as names, addresses, family
members, phone numbers, daily schedule, transcripts, test results, daily
grades, and more. No personal
information is stored in Angel. Think of
Infinite Campus as the “office” and Angel as the “library.” Continue to access Infinite Campus for the
same reasons you have in the past.
Q: Does Angel have a
Parent Portal like Infinite Campus? Can
I get a parent account?
A: To have
an account in Angel, you must be a student enrolled in a specific class in the
Broken Bow Schools. Only teachers,
students, and system managers have accounts.
Some information will be available to the public eventually, but that is
still under development. At least for
now, parents should ask their students to give them the deluxe tour of Angel.
Q: Do I have to be on a
school computer to access Angel?
A: Angel is
available anywhere in the world that has an Internet connection. The web address is http://angel.bbps.org, or just go to
the BBPS website and click on the Angel graphic on the left side of the page.
Q: Is Angel just for
the students in the eLearn program?
A: While
Angel is a core piece for the eLearn program, we use
it for many other things as well. For
instance, all teachers from Kindergarten through Grade 12 create their lesson
plans on Angel. We are also developing
our teacher training efforts (local professional development) as courses on
Angel. It is truly a District-wide
repository for curriculum content.
Q: Do all students have
Angel accounts?
A: Only
upper elementary and secondary students (grades 3 through 12) have Angel
accounts. Lower elementary students do
not have accounts at this time.
Q: Do Angel’s secure eMail and chat systems
expose students to world-wide unregulated eMail and
chat?
A: Angel’s eMail and chat (as well as discussion groups, blogs and other Web 2.0 applications) are self-contained and are isolated from the general Internet. What’s more, students cannot email or chat with other students unless they are in the same course and section. Communication is limited to specific classmates studying the same materials and to the teacher.
Q: Is Angel fully developed and completely “ready for prime time”?
A: What Angel does is a huge undertaking for teachers. It takes several years for the amount of material offered on Angel in any given class to be considered robust. Student-accessible materials will grow over time. The Angel website itself is very new to us and is still under development in many ways. What you see today may be different than what you see tomorrow as we fine-tune the system to best fit our needs.
Q: Who can I contact if I have questions about Angel?
A: Direct technical questions to Jim Ingram, Technology Coordinator, at jingram@bbps.org or 872-6377. Direct questions about philosophy of use to Mr. Ken Kujath, Secondary Principal, at kekujat@bbps.org or 872-6441.
